Why do you need a kick-ass online presence?

There is a term being thrown around “Fake it until you make it”? You can not fake an online presence!
Why would you even be bothered having an online presence?
You want your ideal client to click on your page if they are looking for the services or products you are offering or you want to be the person they think of when they realise they need your services or products.
And if that is not convincing enough 97% of customers use the internet to find what they are looking for.
As a business owner myself, I know the efforts I have to put into not only attracting new customers but also maintaining the ones I already have. With the increase in new entrepreneurs, the only way I can do this is to ensure I have a kick-ass online presence.
I have 5 steps you can take today to start building your online presence for your business:
1. Use the same profile picture across all platforms
Think about how many profiles most people see in a day while scrolling on social media. You want people to quickly identify yours and having the same profile picture is one of the simplest ways to do it.
Just a few tips: ensure your profile pic is clear enough so that they can see your face (faces make more of a connection than a logo) and use a picture that actually looks like you – please don’t over photoshop the photo.
2. Be active on social media. Get out there and truly interact on social media – do not self promote rather to add value. Post consistently and engage with your followers. Having a presence on social media instills trust in your current customers and prospects. Personally, if I see that a company doesn't have a presence on social media, I lose trust and feel unsure if they even exist.
3. Create value – yes I know your main goal is to make money, but before you can even start to make money you need to add value and you can do this by creating educational, free content online. Your community will find this helpful and it will help build your online presence.
4. Make use of new social media features – yes I am guilty of this one – you get so caught up with everything else you have to do and OMG the time it takes to learn a TikTok dance (if you are like me and can not dance). But showing up no matter what will show your audience that you practice what you preach.
5. Be a brand that is relatable and human. No one wants to buy from a brand that has no personality and does not understand their audience.
Whether you’re a small business or a shark in your pond, your competition is already building its presence online. Whenever someone searches for products or services that you sell, your competitors benefit if you do not have an online presence.
